Good food, inventive menu, impressive staff. But pricey and very quiet, even for a Monday evening.

Jaan has just started to serve British and I must say that this must be among the best British food you can get in London. Fantastic!

Booked a table at Jaan Restaurant, Swiss Hotel Howard on 12.12.07 for 12 guests. Food was excellent & service mostly good. My only complaint was when the main courses arrived, no vegetables were included & they were not listed on the menu either. The head waiter seemed suprised when I asked him where they were, & replied, "Oh, if you require vegetables, I will arrange for the kitchen to cook a selection", which they did fairly quickly.

We went on a Saturday evening, and the place was surprisingly not very crowded...therefore my friend and I were seated in a romantic (though quite open) corner on a cozy couch. The wine and food were pleasant new tastes, the food being very fresh and the chef innovative. I particularly liked my main, which was skate fish with pureed veggies and a fantastic stuffed long muscle shell (the waitress also did not know what it was stuffed with). I'd go back, though wouldn't rate this as a fav.

Fantastic meal at Jaan. The four of us ordered the tasting menu which was superb, particularly the duck's feet wrapped in cabbage with pheasant foie gras. Staff was friendly and attentive and the ambience was perfect. Only disappointment was dessert which was Sloe Gin sorbet as it tasted too much of gin compromising the flavour of the dessert. Overall, we would definitely come back!

New chief and different style of English cooking. We arrived for a pre theatre meal and were surprised at how tired the surrounding looked. The food was classic English faire, which was good, but the atmosphere was morbid. Too many other places to eat to bother returning until they decide to put some effort into the room. The bar next door looked great, so the place can look good with effort.

This is a lovely, romantic, discreet restaurant in the Howard Hotel with tables spaced out around the room so you dopn't feel packed in like in some restaurants. There was a lovely quiet and relaxed ambience, and the food was just divine!

Jaan is one of the secrets in the area. You wouldnt know it existed walking past the unassuming front of the Swissotel but it doesn not feel like a hotel restaurant inside and the food is very imaginative and well presented. It's also reasonably prices. Highly recommend trying it out
